IAWP Invitational Summer Institute 2026
Are you ready to reclaim your joy and transform your teaching practices?
It’s time to renew your teaching spirit at the Invitational Summer Institute, a FREE three-week long professional-learning experience hosted by the Inland Area Writing Project. If accepted, you - along with a small cohort of diverse TK-College teachers – will learn innovative teaching approaches as you immerse yourself in the art of teaching writing.
During the Summer Institute, we will meet via Zoom (M/F) and in person at UCR (T/W/Th) where we will . . .
Write and share our writing daily
Learn effective best practices in writing instruction
Collaborate and connect with fellow educators
Share demo lessons and give feedback
Engage in inquiry project research
Read and discuss, Cultivating Joy by Gholdy Muhammad (book will be provided)
Upon successful fellowship completion, you will become a teacher consultant in the National Writing Project, joining a vast nationwide professional learning community. Fellows can earn up to eight (8) units of continuing education credit (purchasable through UCR University Extension).
